Biography: Sheila Foster

Sheila FosterA graduate of the UC Santa Cruz Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture apprenticeship program, Sheila Foster has a deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work required by farmers to bring the world food. Foster holds a B.A. in Biology and a graduate degree in Science Communication from University of California, Santa Cruz. She has also studied natural history filmmaking at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Her experience ranges from working as a journalist in the Australian Outback to serving as the Broadcast Media Coordinator for Stanford University Medical Center, directing content for university level multimedia science courses and teaching K-12 students about the wonders of the natural world. Most recently Foster worked as the Education, Communications and Development coordinator for Ventana Wildlife Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring endangered species to the Central California Coast. In November 2005, Foster was hired as the Development Director for Marin Organic, a dynamic non-profit association of Marin County organic producers dedicated to promoting sustainable agriculture and creating a model program to keep farming in Marin County thriving.
