The Marin Organic Supportng Business Partner Program developed out of a desire by Marin Organic to acknowledge the critical role that businesses play in ensuring that local farming is economically viable. The program is designed to help foster the relationship between businesses and local organic producers, as well as providing a means of promoting those businesses that support organic agriculture in Marin County. Your contributions as a Marin Organic Supporting Business Partner help support Marin Organic’s work to re-empower the local community, foster environmentally sound agriculture and celebrate local food production. Your membership will help support a county in which farmers and the people who rely on them recognize their mutual interdependence, helping to support Marin Organic educational programs for Marin farmers, as well as our many environmental and social efforts, such as our Marin Organic School Lunch and Gleaning Program, our work with underserved communities throughout Marin, and many educational events. As a local business, you know that many people want to make purchases that support their community. As a Supporting Business Partner Member of Marin Organic, you will be actively demonstrating your commitment not only to Marin County, but also to sustainable food production, our environment, and our future. Ancient
Organics Peter Malakoff and Gilda Madrigal began to make Ghee about six years ago while they were studying to become practitioners of Ayurveda. Within the ancient tradition of Ayurveda, ghee is used so widely and praised so highly that they just had to make it for themselves. Over time, after discovering the exquisite quality of their local Straus Butter and getting requests from friends for more of their product, they began Ancient Organics to offer ghee to the public. In accord with the ancient tradition of India, they only make their ghee on the full or waxing moons. Ancient Organics Ghee has been rated #1 nationwide on an independent website. It is sold in local northern California stores and shipped worldwide.

Leigh Trombley Tragically, too many Americans are resorting to a diet of high-fat, high-sugar, low-nutrition processed foods for the majority of their meals. Perhaps a SAD, (Standard American Diet) diet is making you ill. Perhaps you want to become more proactive with your families diet before you are affected with dis-ease. I can help! My experience as a Nutrition Consultant, as well as my French culinary education can help you and your family experience the joy of eating. I recognize that good things come from gathering around the dinner table. A relaxed eating experience with great conversation strengthens relationships, creates fun and lowers stress levels that have built up over a long day. I hope that by bringing you this holistic chef service, I will help individuals and families improve their quality of life and make dinner a time the whole family looks forward to each day. I am an advocate for SLO food: Sustainable, Local and Organic. I support Marin County organic farmers; Produce that has been grown close to home, and is in season, has the most nutritional value and tastes the best. I am a supporting business member of Marin Organic, and shop at Marin County farmers markets. As a way of giving back to the earth, I gather all of my compost and donate it to my local community garden. I am fortunate to have found what I enjoy doing. My work gives me the ability to express myself creatively, while nourishing and supporting my community. I love it!

Local Flora Find Eco-Friendly Flowers at Local Flora in San Anselmo, a sustainable florist and eclectic nursery that believes in “acting globally by buying locally.” Local Flora offers flowers from California farmers and nursery product from Bay Area growers. Buying locally ensures an excellent seasonal selection year-round, and supports farmers from the fields of Bolinas and Carlsbad to Half Moon Bay. By buying local, we help reduce the negative environmental impact of importing flowers. Local Flora was created by Silke Vom Bauer to pay homage to the West Marin landscape. The interior look of the store along with her unique floral designs celebrate Marin’s farmland vernacular. The store interior was built without any new lumber, but by using local recycled barn wood, antique furniture and reclaimed corrugated roofing material helped create our weathered look. Organic Flowers are an important part of the selection at Local Flora, along with vegetables seedlings from Cow Track Ranch in Nicasio and a rich palette of cut flowers from Star Route Farms in Bolinas. Local Flora is a full service “green” florist offering services for your event, home, or business. They even deliver in Marin County via bio-diesel. Piatti Mill Valley Nestled on the edge of Richardson Bay, Piatti is a contemporary restaurant grounded in classic Italian tradition. Intent on bringing the best flavors to the table, as well as supporting local sustainable agriculture, Piatti has formed partnerships with Marin Organics and M.A.L.T. - one could say they are putting their money where their mouth is. Piatti’s menu will change regularly to celebrate the seasonal bounty of our local farmland; some menu items to look forward to in the coming months include “Long Cooked” Italian Pot Roast, with Celeriac Pasatto & Cavolo Nero from Star Route Farms, and Bucatini with House-Cured Guanciale, Prosciutto, Onions, Tomato, Hot Pepper & Pecorino Romano. Piatti’s Executive Chef Chris Fernandez is a master of translating the soul of authentic Italian cuisine to Northern California’s refined palate. Inspired by his time spent cooking in Europe, Chris’s approach to his menu is, “from the Italian perspective – simple, respect for the ingredient’s innate flavor, from the bottom of the plate up.”

Roundstone Farm
Bed and Breakfast Karen Anderson and Frank Borodic believe that people, all over the world, are mobilizing to reverse the globalization of industrial agriculture. Karen and Frank support actions and policies that move away from an industrial food system that requires an intensive use of water, fossil fuel and chemicals for its success. The Roundstone Farm Bed and Breakfast support moving toward a more localized agricultural system, a system based on traditional, ecologically sustainable practices. Karen and Frank take the opportunity to get involved, and foster change through grassroots actions such as supporting the West Marin Buy-Local Campaign, where they can help local businesses succeed by preventing money from going over-the-hill. Toby's
CoffeeBar Start your morning at the Feed Barn where you can smell the alfalfa
and clover from the hay bales while breathing in the rich smells of
fresh roasted coffee. Toby’s CoffeeBar uses energy from the solar
power of Toby's Feed Barn and they compost all coffee grounds and filters
in the local gardens. Christian Caiazzo, owner of Toby's CoffeeBar, uses only organic ingredients. The coffee comes from Taylor Maid Farms, a leader in supporting family farmed coffee beans that are organic and fairly traded. The coffee comes from beans at the peak of their flavor and only a week at most from the roastery. The milk and cream comes from Straus Family Creamery in Marshall. The loose leaf tea selection is crafted by Christian’s wife, Jennifer Monin Caiazzo, a local acupuncturist and herbalist, using only organic fairly traded ingredients. The teas are served in compostable, un-bleached, wood pulp pouches. There are always a variety of local organic baked goods, including Brickmaiden scones and biscotti, baked fresh every morning in a wood-fired brick oven.
